The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is set to host the eighth edition of the National Youth Historian Conference on April 13 and 14 at its headquarters in Maidan Garhi, showcasing its commitment to fostering academic discourse among young historians across the nation. This year, the conference is organized in collaboration with Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna and Madhav Sanskriti Nyas, under the theme "Indian Knowledge System, History Writing, and History's Philosophy."
Reflecting the ethos of the National Education Policy of 2020, the conference aims to rejuvenate historical research and compilation efforts that resonate with the Indian Knowledge System. It seeks to provide a vibrant platform for young scholars, historians, and researchers dedicated to exploring the core characteristics of Indianness in their academic pursuits.
Conference Highlights
The inaugural session, scheduled for April 13 at the IGNOU convention center, will see the presence of distinguished personalities including Prof. Ishwar Sharan Vishvkarma, Executive President of Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna; Arun Kumar, Sah Sarkaryawah, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; and Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, among others. Prof. Nageshwar Rao, the vice chancellor of IGNOU, will preside over the opening session.
Spanning two days, the conference will feature seven plenary sessions with nearly one hundred research papers presented on various aspects of the theme. Special sessions and the closing session will be graced by notable figures such as Dattatreya Hosabale, Sar Karyavah, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Dr. Balmukund Pandey, National Organization Secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Yojna; and Prof. Rajnish Kumar Shukla, Former VC, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha.
In addition to the academic discussions and paper presentations, the conference will also host a cultural evening, offering attendees a taste of India's rich cultural heritage.
