Google Photos Revolutionizes Photo Editing with AI-Powered Features for All Users

Google Photos Expands AI Editing Features to All Users

Google has announced a significant update to its Photos service, making advanced AI-powered editing features previously exclusive to Pixel devices available to all users. Starting May 15, features such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Portrait Light will be accessible without a subscription, across a wider range of devices, including Pixel tablets.

What's New for Google Photos Users?

The update introduces several powerful editing tools powered by Artificial Intelligence, designed to enhance photo quality and composition with minimal effort:

  • Photo Unblur: Sharpen your blurry photos to bring clarity to your cherished memories.
  • Magic Eraser: Easily remove unwanted elements or photobombers from your pictures.
  • Portrait Light: Adjust lighting in your portrait photos to get that perfect shot.
  • Magic Editor: Launched last year with Pixel 8, this feature uses generative AI for complex edits, such as repositioning subjects or altering backgrounds. Now, it's rolling out to all Pixel devices, with Android and iOS users receiving 10 free Magic Editor saves per month.

These enhancements are part of Google's commitment to making professional-level photo editing accessible to everyone, regardless of their device or subscription status.

Eligibility and Availability

To access these features, your device must meet certain requirements. Chromebook users need ChromeOS version 118+ or at least 3GB RAM, while Android devices require a 64-bit processor, a minimum of 3GB RAM, and Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher. iOS devices must be running on iOS 15 or above. The rollout will begin on May 15, reaching all eligible devices over the following weeks.

Conclusion

This update democratizes access to sophisticated photo editing tools, allowing more users to enhance their photos creatively. Google Photos continues to evolve, leveraging the latest AI technologies to empower users to bring their photographic visions to life effortlessly.
